ILOILO City – A bus conductor and an alleged drug courier, together with his friend, were arrested for yielding P5,780,000 worth of suspected shabu in a sting operation in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

The suspects were identified as alias “Pedik”, 44, and alias “Gilbert”, 34, of Iloilo City.

Personnel of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU), headed by Police Captain Glenn Soliman, and the Iloilo City Police Station 5 conducted the buy-bust operation at 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, wherein they seized more or less 850 grams of the illegal substance.

“We transacted the suspects for P50,000 worth of shabu through our asset. Pedik was under surveillance for almost a year because he was elusive. Drug courier sya kag kinilo na baligya na; kay bus conductor sya, it’s easy for him to deliver the drugs,” Soliman said.

On the other hand, Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor congratulated his men for the seizure of a huge amount of illegal drugs.

“The successful outcome of this operation highlighted the dedication and professionalism of the police in combating the illegal drug trade. I commend the tireless efforts of the RDEU-6 and Mandurriao Police Station personnel. We remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting our communities from the scourge of drugs,” Villaflor said./PN
