SAN JOSE Antique – Gov. Rhodora Cadiao, who chairs the Regional Development Council in Western Visayas, has appealed to other provinces in the region to extend aid to communities in Mindanao still reeling from the impact of recent earthquakes.
“I do hope that other provinces in Western Visayas will also help Mindanao,” Cadiao said on Wednesday, adding that the provincial government here has approved a P1-million financial assistance to the quake victims.
She noted that North Cotabato helped Antique during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, and the province this time is extending the same assistance.
The governor said that it is nice provinces in the country are helping one another whenever there are calamities.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) officer Broderick Train, said the PDRRM Council approved Resolution Number 11 extending financial assistance for North Cotabato considering that it gravely suffered from the earthquakes that jolted the place last October.
“The P1-million financial assistance will be sourced out from the PDRRM’s fund,” he noted.
Train said the approved resolution is scheduled for deliberation and approval also by the provincial board during their regular session on Thursday.
“I do hope that by next week the financial assistance could already be given to the provincial government of North Cotabato,” he said. (With a report from PNA/PN)
