BACOLOD City – A domestic altercation turned fatal after a 37-year-old man allegedly stabbed his wife to death before stabbing himself inside their home in Barangay Refugio, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on Monday night.
The victim, identified by police as alias “Milag,” 35, was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the Calatrava Municipal Hospital.
Her husband, alias “Tito,” 37, survived the self-inflicted stab wound and remains under police custody while receiving medical treatment.
According to the Calatrava Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at about 8:56 p.m. on August 10, 2026.
Initial police investigation showed that the couple was inside their residence when Tito arrived, triggering a heated argument between the two.
During the altercation, Tito allegedly grabbed a sharp-pointed bladed weapon and stabbed Milag several times, hitting her in the chest and left arm.
After allegedly attacking his wife, Tito stabbed himself in the abdomen.
Personnel of the Calatrava Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) rushed both to the Calatrava Municipal Hospital for medical attention.
Calatrava MPS said appropriate charges are being prepared against Tito once he is medically cleared.
Police said the motive behind the incident remains under investigation./PN
