CAPIZ – The 66th edition of the Palarong Pambansa officially opened with a ceremony on May 24, 2026, at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Gov. D.O. Plaza Covered Court in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
This year’s games, themed “Palaro Tu Agsur 2026,” gathered athletes and officials from 18 regions across the country, all set to compete in more than 25 sporting events.
The weeklong national sporting event, which runs until May 31, is expected to highlight intense competition while promoting sportsmanship, cultural pride, and unity among Filipino youth.
The Palarong Pambansa continues to serve as the premier stage for young athletes to showcase their talents, while also fostering camaraderie and celebrating the diversity of Philippine culture.
A key highlight of this year’s games is the strong delegation from Capiz, composed of student-athletes determined to deliver strong performances and bring home medals for their province. They represent various sports disciplines and reflect the dedication and support of their schools, families, and communities.
The Capiz delegation to the 66th Palarong Pambansa is composed of both elementary and secondary athletes, as well as representatives for the Paragames. In the elementary category, the athletes include Bernardez Sherwin John, Calzado Jazper V., and Dumolong Marthonne Andrie, all competing in athletics (boys), as well as Patricio Samuella B. in athletics (girls) and Esmeño Bethany Adriel in table tennis (girls).
For the secondary level, the province is represented by Baclas Allyana Jade D., Belandres Angelica P., Manong Yvon Grace F., and Villagracia Angel B., all in athletics (girls), while Juare Zyrah Keith will compete in badminton (girls). Also part of the delegation are Calanogan John Jelvin B. in boxing, Besana Justin Faye A. and Ruado Mel John E. in dancesports (Modern Standard), Daria Dan Carlo B. and Vidal Ralph John Laurence E. in table tennis (boys), Dizon Leslie Faye T. and Dizon Menchie Kate T. in table tennis (girls), and Medina Angelo James B. in wrestling (boys).
Meanwhile, in the Paragames category, Capiz is represented by Edaño Gemwel M. in Athletics VI (boys) and Lunasco Anjo G. in Orthopedic (boys), completing the province’s roster of competing athletes.
Capiz province has rallied behind its athletes, offering strong moral support and encouragement as they compete on the national stage.
