CAPIZ – A native of this province has won the Mr. World Universe International 2023 title in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Joshua Azares, who represented the Philippines on May 26, bested several other candidates from different countries in the international male pageant.
Azares went home on May 28 and was warmly welcomed by his family and supporters at the Roxas City Airport.
His parents, Monico and Marites Azares, and his sister Shina, together with Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs officer Alphonsus D. Tesoro and VP for Administration Lerry Basamot, were among those who welcomed him at the airport.
On his Facebook page, the Azares expressed his appreciation to those who supported his Mr. World Universe International journey.
“I still find it hard to believe that I’m going home to the Philippines with this title, given how rapidly events are moving. I sincerely appreciate all of your support and prayers at each step of my journey. I apologize if I can’t thank each of you one by one or respond to your posts, comments, or messages, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your support,” read part of his social media post after winning the title./PN
