ROXAS City – The police authorities of Capiz are all set for the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet set to be held here later this month – seen to gather student athletes from all over the region.

Information officer Donna Asmod of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) said the police here is on full alert status and their security plan for the regional sports competition is already in place.

“We have already started the deployment of our police personnel early this month to ensure security in the billeting areas especially of the early delegates,” she said.

She added that the security personnel in the billeting areas are on round-the-clock duty.

Asmod said that the police personnel from the CPPO will augment the police force of the Roxas City Police Station for this regional sporting event hosted by the province of Capiz.

“There is enough number of police personnel for the security and safety of the delegates and participants to the WVRAA meet as we aimed an orderly, zero criminality and zero casualty event here,” she said.

She said there will be more foot and mobile patrolling, increased police visibility in the sporting sites and other areas of public convergence and the conduct of checkpoints will be intensified.

“We are also tapping the Barangay Peacekeeping Actions Teams (BPATs), barangay tanods and other volunteer groups as key multipliers for our peace and order and security measures,” Asmod said. (PIA/PN)
