Capiz economic frontliners get vaxxed vs COVID

ROXAS City – The provincial government of Capiz has started vaccinating against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) its economic frontliners or the A4 group in the Department of Health’s vaccination prioritization framework.

The initial targets are 7,000 individuals which could be, among others, market vendors, employees of grocery stores and supermarkets, media, etc.

“Gamay pa lang ang list sang A4 kay initial pa lang ini. Wala pa ka-master list ang iban,” said Dr. Alex Nolasco, Provincial Health Office (PHO) chief.

He added: “May ara pa kita informal sector nga na-belong diri as essential workers so madugangan pa ini.”

At the launching of the vaccination for the A4 group yesterday, Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras said, “We are hoping nga mabalanse ta ang health concerns ta kag ang aton economic concerns.”

He assured the people that COVID-19 vaccines are safe.

“The best vaccines are the ones in our hands,” Nolasco said.

So far, 14.08 percent of the target population in Capiz is now fully vaccinated while 18.77 percent or 102, 000 individuals are waiting for their second dose.

Since March 8, 2021, the province had received 186,948 doses of various COVID-19 vaccine brands./PN
