CAPIZ is the fastest-growing among six economies of Western Visayas, and second fastest in the Philippines based on the 2025 Economic Performance of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
PSA Capiz’s Officer-in-Charge (OIC) head Rosiebelle Beluso noted that the province has recorded an 8.7 percent growth rate at constant 2018 prices, with a P110,062 gross domestic product (GDP) per capita for 2025.
The province reached a P90.97 billion GDP, which is 13.3 percent of the regional economy, the third largest of the six after Iloilo province and Iloilo City.
Based on the data, the top fastest-growing industries in the province are agriculture, forestry, and fishing (AFF) with 21.1%, followed by human health and social work activities with 5.2%, and education with 11%.
Meanwhile, as for the performance of major industries, AFF was the highest at 21.1%, followed by services at 5.7%. However, industry declined to a negative 2.5%.
Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev) Western Visayas OIC Supervising Economic Development Specialist lawyer Raimer Gel Caspillo noted that Capiz is the most AFF-based economy in the region, about twice the regional share.
Caspillo said that the province produced almost half of the regional aquaculture (48.6%), with total fisheries rising from 111,297 to 151,413 metric tons.
He added that, for palay production, Capiz produced 321,674 metric tons in 2025, 21.7% of the region, second only to Iloilo Province.
However, Caspillo mentioned that the provincial labor force participation rate is 62.6%, fourth in Western Visayas and below the regional average of 64.0%, with about 19,000 persons unemployed and about 53,000 underemployed.
Meanwhile, Capiz Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Wilar De los Santos said that the province has created a strategic direction based on the 2025 economic performance of Capiz. For industrial centers, the provincial government is planning to create conditions for manufacturing and processing through utilities and infrastructure, industrial estate and site development, and employment and skills development in Roxas City and the towns of Panitan and Sigma.
