CAPIZ — The provincial government, under the leadership of Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, distributed an additional allowance of P6,500 each to athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, chaperones, and trainers representing the province in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet 2026.
The distribution of financial assistance was held on May 7, 2026, at the Capiz Gymnasium inside the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City.
A total of 694 individuals, composed of athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, chaperones, and trainers, received the additional allowances from the provincial government.
The financial aid forms part of Castro’s commitment to strengthen support for Capiz’s delegation to the WVRAA 2026.
During the send-off program held on March 14, 2026, at Capiz National High School, the governor earlier assured the delegation that the provincial government would provide additional allowances to support their participation in the regional competition.
Prior to the latest release, the provincial government had already allotted P3,500 as allowance for each athlete.
With the additional P6,500, each athlete will now receive a total cash allowance of P10,000.
The provincial government also disclosed that more than P20 million had initially been earmarked to support the province’s WVRAA delegation, including allowances and other forms of assistance intended to facilitate the athletes’ preparation and participation in the competition.
The initiative underscores the provincial government’s continuing commitment to sports development and youth empowerment in Capiz.
Officials said the financial assistance aims to motivate athletes and members of the delegation to excel in their respective events while promoting camaraderie, discipline, and sportsmanship./PN
