CAPIZ — The Capiz provincial government is strengthening its technical-vocational education strategy following the first-quarter meeting of the Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Committee (PTESDC) on May 4, 2026.
Led by Gov. Fredenil H. Castro and attended by TESDA-Capiz Provincial Director Joel Villagracia, the meeting focused on finalizing and enhancing the 2026 work plan of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The work plan outlines priority programs aimed at improving workforce readiness and expanding access to skills training across the province.
During the meeting, officials presented data on in-demand technical-vocational courses, highlighting key sectors such as tourism, health and wellness, industrial technology, and digitalization. These areas are seen to offer strong employment potential and contribute to local economic growth.
Among the proposals discussed was the development of training programs for teachers to qualify as TESDA-certified assessors. The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of educators to effectively evaluate and guide students in technical-vocational tracks.
Gov. Castro also emphasized the importance of inclusive skills development, particularly for persons with disabilities (PWDs). Proposed programs include training in massage therapy and nail care services to help improve livelihood opportunities for the sector.
“This meeting represents more than just planning; it is a commitment among local government and education stakeholders to promote inclusive growth and development in Capiz,” Castro said.
The provincial government aims to ensure that all Capisnons, especially those from marginalized sectors, have access to quality training and employment opportunities.
