CAPIZ – The Provincial Government of Capiz convened the eighth meeting of the Provincial Health Board (PHB) on August 29 at the capitol to review health reports and strengthen strategies for improving local health services.

One of the key agenda items was the review of the Provincial Notifiable Diseases Case Bulletin and the Provincial Monthly Health Events Report, which provide vital data on disease prevalence and control across the province. The board stressed the importance of reliable data in addressing public health challenges effectively.

Looking ahead, the PHB also discussed the 2026–2028 Local Investment Plan for Health and its Annual Operational Plan, which will serve as a roadmap for enhancing access to quality health care in Capiz. The proposed plans outline various health programs and resource allocations to ensure continuous sectoral development.

The board further tackled a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the provincial government and Helen Keller International for the Transforming Lives through Nutrition project, which aims to strengthen nutrition programs, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Another MOA with the Department of Health Region 6 was also discussed. The agreement involves a Performance-Based Grant to bolster the province’s fight against tuberculosis through improved prevention and treatment strategies.

In addition, the board reviewed Executive Order No. 18, Series of 2025, which provides guidance to local government units (LGUs) as new members of the PHB. The order seeks to foster stronger collaboration between LGUs and the board to ensure local health initiatives align with provincial objectives.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from PHB members to prioritize health programs and work together in advancing the well-being of Capiz residents./PN
