
CAPIZ – This province was recognized as the top MICE destination in Western Visayas for its ability to host meetings and destination for events during the Pagdayaw 2024: Western Visayas Tourism Awards of the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 held in Iloilo City on December 9.
Alphonsus D. Tesoro, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer, presented the award to Gov. Fredenil Castro and Atty. Luvim D. Amores, the province’s public information officer and concurrent Human Resource Management Office head.
Gov. Castro expressed gratitude to everyone for their hard work in promoting culture and heritage of the province.
MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions.
Moreover, Capiz received the Multidimensional Tourism Product Award for its outstanding contribution to the adoption and integration of the Filipino brand of service excellence, and for the remarkable efforts in promoting culture and heritage in the region in 2023.
This year’s Pagdayaw theme, “Tourism and Peace”, revolves around the pursuit of peace as a continuing endeavor, and progress through tourism. The event is aligned with the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s World Tourism Day 2024 celebrations.
DOT-6 director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez said Pagdayaw 2024 was a celebration of key tourism players, tourism champions, and stakeholders for their invaluable contributions to the region’s tourism development, promotion and regulation./PN
