CAPIZ — The Capiz Provincial Library has launched an outdoor reading space at the Capiz Provincial Park in Barangay Tiza, providing children, students, and other book lovers with greater access to reading materials in a natural setting.
The initiative, dubbed “Dali, Mabasa Kita!,” encourages readers of all ages to step outside traditional library spaces and enjoy books while surrounded by the park’s greenery and open atmosphere.
The outdoor reading area is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and aims to promote reading, encourage a love for literature, and provide the public with a quiet space to relax and read.
The initiative also seeks to provide an alternative to the increasingly digital environment by encouraging people to take a break from screen-based activities and rediscover the experience of reading physical books.
The library said its team of librarians is committed to making literature more accessible to the community by bringing books closer to readers.
Aside from providing a variety of reading materials, the initiative also promotes works by local authors, helping readers discover local stories while fostering a sense of community and appreciation for Filipino literature.
The outdoor reading space is envisioned as a gathering place for families, students, and other members of the community. It also supports efforts to expand access to books and local narratives, particularly among communities with limited access to traditional library facilities.
“Come over and discover your next favorite book. Whether you came to read, relax, or simply enjoy the moment, we’re delighted to share this space with you,” the Capiz Provincial Library said in a Facebook post.
The library also encouraged the public to take a break from endless scrolling and make use of the free books available at the community-accessible outdoor reading space.
Meanwhile, the Capiz Provincial Library and its Book Nook are located on the third floor of the Capiz Government and Business Center, in Rooms 1 and 22.
The facilities are open from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., without a noon break, and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon./PN
