CAPIZ — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Capiz has recorded a total of 538,633 registered voters as of April 21, 2026, reflecting increased voter participation ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on November 2.
Provincial Election Supervisor and Assistant Regional Election Director Atty. Wil Arceño announced the figure during a press briefing organized by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Capiz.
Arceño said the First District has the highest number of registered voters at 288,126, while the Second District has 250,507.
He noted that although the difference between the two districts is relatively small, the First District has posted a more noticeable increase in voter registrations.
Roxas City, the provincial capital, accounts for 113,471 registered voters.
Arceño said the city’s voter population is equivalent to the combined number of registered voters in three to four smaller municipalities, underscoring its significant influence in the province’s electoral landscape.
Meanwhile, Arceño confirmed that the 2026 BSKE will continue to use manual voting.
He said the Commission is not yet in a position to implement an automated election system for the village and youth polls.
Under the manual system, voters will write the names of their chosen candidates on official ballots.
Arceño also said the official ballots for the BSKE had already been printed last month, in line with the Commission’s preparations for the elections.
COMELEC Chairman Jorge Erwin Garcia earlier assured the public that the agency is taking all necessary steps to ensure a fair, orderly and transparent electoral process.
