ROXAS City – The provincial government of Capiz is planning to have its own provincial radio station mainly for educational purposes.

Capiz Governor Esteban Contreras, in an interview over DZRH, said the provincial government is allotting P10 million for the project.

The proposed provincial radio station, which is still waiting for the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), aims to help the teachers and students who are having hard time with the present learning set-up.

Contreras cited that majority of Capiznons have no internet access but most households have a radio.

May feasibility study ang DepEd na they really need that, at least sustainable siya compared siya sa bitin tayo… module, printing, bondpapers na hindi na magagamit sa next…,” said Contreras.

Capiz province has around 145,000 learners from kinder to senior high school.

Contreras noted that the project is backed by the school principals, mayors’ league and even the parents and teachers association.

The governor assured all sectors especially the provincial board that the proposed province-run radio station will not be used for politics.

Nag-wo-worry sila na baka gamitin daw sa pulitika. I told them that ‘pag radio station ng government hindi magagamit ‘yun for political purposes, na mangangampanya ka dun,” Contreras said./PN
