BACOLOD City — A 60-year-old carpenter died after he was allegedly stabbed by a drinking companion during a heated argument in Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on October 4.
Police identified the victim only as alias “Edgar,” a married resident of the area who sustained a stab wound to the lower chest. The suspect was identified as alias “Jojo,” 31, single.
According to the Cadiz City Police Station, the incident occurred at around 8:40 p.m. in Saint Andrew, Barangay Daga, while the two men were drinking together.
Police said a heated argument broke out between the victim and the suspect. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly stabbed Edgar with a knife before fleeing the scene.
The victim was rushed to Cadiz District Hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead by the attending physician at around 10:50 p.m.
Police launched hot pursuit operations to locate and arrest the suspect.
Follow-up operations and coordination with nearby police stations and barangay officials are ongoing to establish the suspect’s whereabouts and facilitate his arrest.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the stabbing and the circumstances surrounding the incident./PN
