FOUR more veteran players led by Spanish striker Fernando Rodriguez have parted ways with Ceres Negros before the squad starts its title-retention bid in the 2018 Philippines Football League (PFL).

Rodriguez, Kota Kawase, and Philippine Azkals members Joshua Grommen and Luke Woodland have decided not to renew their contracts, Ceres Negros announced on its official website.

“We thank our departing players for their valuable performance the past year,” said Ceres Negros team manager James Dinsay. “They have been instrumental in the 2017 campaign, and the club wishes them well in their future endeavors.”

Those who have left the team earlier were Iain Ramsay, who had signed a contract to play in the Thailand Football League, and Roland Muller, who took a leave of absence to attend to his pregnant wife.

Still with the football team were Azkals mainstays Patrick Reichelt, Louie Michael Casas, Manny Ott, Carlie De Murga, Martin Steuble, Junior Muñoz, Kevin Ingreso, OJ Porteria, and Jeffrey Christaens.

Returning for another PFL duty with the Negros Occidental-based team were Arnie Pasinabo, Bienvenido Marañon, Stephan Schrock, Omid Nazari, Ed Sacapaño, Manuel Herrera, Joshua Dutosme, and Nessi Ramos.

Aside from its PFL title defense, the Risto Vidakovic-mentored team will compete in the 2018 Asian Football Confederation Championship League starting this month./PN
