Ceres Negros, Kaya Iloilo share No. 1 spot in PH football

CARMONA, Cavite – Ceres Negros FC continued its hot streak in the 2019 Philippine Football League with a 12-0 annihilation of Philippine Air Force FC on Saturday at the PFF National Training Center here.

Mike Ott fired four goals, Bienvenido Marañon and Stephan Schrock had hat tricks each, while Miguel Tanton and Curt Dizon had conversion each for the defending champions.

After intercepting an early try from the Air Force, the Ceres Negros opened the scoring at the fourth minute with Maranon converting from a pass by Schrock. Tanton followed with a corner hit five minutes later.

Schrock then scored back to back from inside and a header for a 4-0 advantage. The Negrenses build a 6-0 halftime edge with Maranon drained two straight goals at the final minute of the opening half.

Ceres Negros continued to pound of the Air Force in the second half with Dizon draining a strike. Ott did not waste time upon entry by scoring two quick goals upon entry at the 76th minute.

Schrock completed his hat trick five minutes from time after his nutmeg off the keeper trickled its way into goal. Ott would complete the scoring in the dying minutes, adding two more to complete the 12-0 victory.

With the victory, Ceres Negros has remained on top of the standings with 19 points on six wins and a draw, while the Air Force is at seventh spot with one point after eight games.

Over at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna, Kaya Futbol Club Iloilo leaned on lone conversion by Darryl Roberts as it halted its losing run following a 1-0 victory over the Stallion Laguna FC.

Roberts converted a header off Jovin Bedic’s free kick in the 31st minute as Kaya Iloilo remained at joint first with 19 points on six wins, one draw and a loss, while Stallion Laguna is at third spot with 11 markers./PN
