MANILA — Nxled Chameleons squandered a commanding two-set advantage but regained their composure in a tense fifth-set showdown to turn back Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 15-12, and preserve their unbeaten start in the 2026-27 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series at the Playtime Filoil Centre in San Juan City.
Brooke Van Sickle spearheaded Nxled’s escape with a 20-point performance, including 14 attacks and six blocks, as the Chameleons survived a spirited Farm Fresh comeback to claim their second consecutive victory and remain among the tournament leaders.
Van Sickle also displayed her defensive prowess with 16 excellent digs, providing the Chameleons with stability in a match that nearly slipped away after their dominant start.
Veteran hitter Myla Pablo supplied 17 points, while Jacqueline Acuña and MarJana Phillips contributed 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
Negrense Jonah Sabete-Escamillan also played a crucial role with nine points and 19 excellent receptions, helping Nxled withstand the Foxies’ persistent offensive pressure.
The Chameleons appeared headed for a comfortable straight-set victory after dominating the opening two frames, 25-19 and 25-17.
However, Farm Fresh mounted a determined fightback, stealing the closely contested third set, 25-23, before sustaining its momentum with a 25-20 fourth-set triumph to force a deciding frame.
With their unbeaten record suddenly under threat, the Chameleons regrouped in the fifth set and held their nerve down the stretch to secure a 15-12 victory and complete the hard-earned escape.
Frances Molina paced Farm Fresh with 16 points, while Mylene Rezanova added 12 markers, but their efforts were not enough to prevent the Foxies from absorbing their first defeat and slipping to a 1-1 win-loss record.
Meanwhile, defending powerhouse Creamline Cool Smashers overcame a sluggish opening set to dispatch Galeries Tower Highrisers, 27-29, 25-18, 25-19, 25-18, and remain unbeaten in the conference.
After surrendering a tightly contested first frame, the 11-time PVL champions rediscovered their offensive rhythm and dominated the next three sets to complete the victory in two hours and eight minutes.
Tots Carlos led the Cool Smashers with 13 points, while Jema Galanza delivered an impressive all-around performance of 12 points, 12 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions.
Alyssa Valdez chipped in 10 points as Creamline secured its second straight victory to join Nxled and Choco Mucho Flying Titans atop the standings with identical 2-0 records.
Erika Deloria carried the offensive load for Galeries Tower with a match-high 21 points, while Shola Alvarez contributed 11 and Jean Asis added nine.
Despite their promising opening-set performance, the Highrisers struggled to contain Creamline’s sustained offensive assault and suffered their second consecutive defeat, falling to 0-2./PN
