SAN JOSE, Antique – Starting next week, a building that will house children in conflict with the law (CICL) will be built at Farmville in this capital town.

Mayor Elmer Untaran said the Consuelo Foundation donated the structure with the aim of preventing the use of minors in illegal activities.

The foundation will manage the center in the next three years and eventually turn it over to the local government, said Untaran.

The center will be built on a 550-square-meter lot. It can house at least 30 children.

Members of the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children will be trained so they can assist in managing the center.

Untaran said the Consuelo Foundation has previously helped repair/rehabilitate a recreation center for minors in the municipal hall.

The foundation spent around P350,000 for the initiative. (PNA)
