BACOLOD City — The city government is now monitoring the closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems of establishments here.
Permits and Licensing Division acting head Marie Ann Biasca said they are ensuring strict compliance with City Ordinance No. 600.
Under the ordinance, all banks, financial institutions and business establishments with a capitalization of at least P3 million are required to install CCTV cameras.
Having CCTV cameras is “one way of preventing crimes,” Biasca stressed.
She said her division has already monitored several nonbank financial intermediaries, lending investors, finance and investment companies, pawnshops, insurance companies, stall markets, and stockbrokers and dealers in securities and foreign exchange.
Biasca encouraged all business establishments here, including those inside malls, to comply with the ordinance.
By installing CCTV cameras, the establishments can get a video recording of all their incoming and outgoing clients, she said./PN
