BACOLOD City – The city government did not order the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to vacate the area where its satellite office is located, according to City Administrator John Orola.
The LTFRB still holds office along San Juan Street across the public plaza and remains open for business, he added.
But Orola said the agency will be leaving such “small and congested” office come Sept. 1.
The city government is not to blame. The LTFRB said it needs to move to a “bigger and better location” to accommodate the growing demands of its clients, the city administrator said.
Orola added that he has to make such clarification after local transport groups blamed the city government over LTFRB’s transfer of office.
Members of the transport groups composed of drivers and operators opposed the transfer.
They said this would mean that they have to travel to Iloilo City for their LTFRB transactions, thus incurring more expenses.
Orola said the city government will “try to do its best” to help the LTFRB find a new office in Bacolod./PN
