BACOLOD City – The local government is on the process of procuring school supplies for public elementary school pupils in the city, according to Councilor Caesar Distrito.
The Bids and Awards Committee conducted a bidding for bags, uniforms and other school supplies last week, Distrito added.
The procurement and distribution of the supplies is provided for under the Educational Materials for Public Elementary Students Ordinance in Bacolod, which Distrito authored in 2016.
The city has allotted P16,320,000 for the program.
The Angels Sportswear from Cebu won the bidding with its P11-million offer.
Distrito said they made sure that the delivery of the procured items will be “on time,” which is before the opening of the school year.
The recipients are around 40,000 Grade 1 to Grade 6 pupils of public elementary schools in the city.
Principals and administrators of public elementary schools shall determine the pupils who are qualified to avail themselves of the school supplies.
The distribution will be done on the first week of classes, Distrito added./PN
