ILOILO City – The Principals Association in Iloilo City passed a resolution demanding justice for fellow educators Joe Marie Osano and wife Alnie Dinah Pet-Osano who were killed by a speeding sports car on Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue in Mandurriao district on Saturday.

Joe Marie was the principal of La Paz II Elementary School while Alnie Dinah was a Master Teacher at Ticud Elementary School also in La Paz district.

“We will send this resolution to concerned government offices and officials,” said Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Iloilo City officer-in-charge Clarissa Zamora.

The principals described the deaths of the Osano couple as untimely and tragic.

“In spite of their busy schedule, they took time to walk or jog to maintain good health because they wanted to serve well in the Department of Education,” said Zamora.

The Osanos were crossing Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue in Mandurriao district when hit by the sports car. They died of severe head and body injuries.

The principals hoped lessons would be learned from this incident.

Zamora said the Osanos were “model educators.” They rose from the ranks because of their dedication and hard work, she said.

Meanwhile, the Iloilo City Government expressed readiness to help the families of the Osano couple.

Zamora was at city hall yesterday and sought assistance from the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office for the transfer of remains of the Osano couple from St. Therese Chapels in Molo district to the Schools District Office in La Paz (La Paz I Elementary School) on June 20.

Zamora said teachers wanted to pay tribute to the couple and their families.

On June 21, the wake will be transferred to the couple’s home in Barangay Ticud, La Paz then to their hometown in Concepcion, Iloilo on June 22./PN
