ILOILO City – The city government started on Sept. 22 a one-week dry-run to straighten out possible flaws that may affect the smooth flow of the new system of permits processing.

This is another milestone in making Iloilo City business-friendly, said Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.

A series of meetings was conducted to discuss measures to further streamline the issuance of clearances of various offices involved in the system to cut down the business permits licensing process to one day. The target time is an hour and a half for the approval of all documentary requirements and release to applicants.

The Technical Working Group is composed of representatives from the Office of the City Zoning Administrator, City Treasurer’s Office, City Engineer’s Office, Bureau of Fire, and Business Permits and Licensing Office together with City Administrator Hernando Galvez.
The new process will significantly cut down the number of steps; eliminate duplication of documents, and processing time for business registration.

This is in compliance with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Department of Information Communication and Technology (DICT) Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2016-01.

This is also in line with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to limit the licensing process to a maximum of three days.
Business Permit and Licensing Office chief Norman Tabud said they sat down with concerned offices to thresh out stumbling blocks in the smooth flow of paper trail.
Tabud said his office can release permits in 30 to 45 minutes provided all requirements are complete.
He noted they are close to achieving the target of 2,000 new businesses expected to be registered this third quarter, which is on top of the 16,000 businesses renewed. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
