BACOLOD City – The hospital head of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here thumbed down the proposal to no longer require face shields outdoors.
Dr. Julius Drilon said face shields have “increased protection rate” against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
By wearing facemasks, individuals have 90 percent protection, and by wearing face shields the protection increases to as much as 93 percent, he said.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte already made clear the face shields rule yesterday.
“Acting on the advice of health experts and in view of the Delta variant, PRRD declared that the wearing of face shields, both indoor and outdoor, is still mandatory,” said Palace spokesman Harry Roque in a tweet.
Meanwhile, based on new data released by CLMMRH Hospital Emergency Incident Command System, at least 130 to 160 new cases are projected towards the end of June.
Drilon said analysis will enable the hospital to strategically allocate its resources and manpower./PN
