BACOLOD City – The City Legal Office (CLO) is set to demolish 32 houses of informal settler families (ISFs) situated along the Mambuloc Creek that covers barangays 2 and 6.
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said the demolition, first set for Monday, will push through today, July 18, if the weather permits.
“The city will initiate the demolition so that the DPWH can proceed with the project,” Ting explained.
In May, the CLO served a notice to vacate to the affected ISFs due to the ongoing rehabilitation of the Mambuloc Creek that overflows during heavy rains and causes flooding in some areas of the city.
The ISFs were given 30 days upon receipt to clear the area.
The city government will provide P10,000 financial assistance to each affected family, but it will only be distributed once their structures have been removed.
Ting added that the ISFs were provided with a vehicle to transport their belongings to the relocation site by the Bacolod Housing Authority in Barangay Vista Alegre./PN
