BACOLOD City – The City Legal Office (CLO) would be left with no choice but close four stalls at the Bacolod Manokan Country for noncompliance with a compromise agreement.
These four stalls still have unsettled accounts at the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO).
Last Oct. 3, 2022, the CLO closed 15 tenants at the Bacolod Manokan Country at the Reclamation Area for violation of the City Ordinance 565, or the Revised local revenue code.
Later that day, the CLO and the establishments signed a compromise agreement.
According to City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr., the city allowed them to continue their business by paying an initial payment, and the remainder will be paid in installments until Dec. 31, 2022.
Unsettled accounts accumulated from failure to pay the monthly rentals plus the penalties and surcharges while occupying the stalls at Manokan Country for almost a decade.
Ting said, based on the report he obtained from the CTO by the end of 2022, four stall owners in Manokan Country never made any payments after they signed the agreement.
“Padal-an namun sila notice, kon wala gid sila gihapon naka comply sang agreement i-close gid namun ila pwesto sa Manokan Country,” Ting said.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said they had already been given a chance by the city to comply with their obligations.
“We’re waiting, and we’re abiding by the compromise agreement we have with them asta Dec. 31, 2022. We will stick to that kon ano ang gin agree-han, amo na amon sundon,” the mayor added./PN
