ILOILO — In a move aimed at strengthening command leadership and operational readiness across key maritime areas, the Philippine Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV) carried out a reshuffling of station commanders in four provinces just days before this year closes.
The leadership changes were formalized during a joint turnover ceremony on December 22, held at the CGDWV headquarters in Barangay Obrero, Lapuz district, Iloilo City. The ceremony was led by CGDWV Commodore Ludovico D. Librilla Jr., and covered Coast Guard Stations (CGS) in Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Guimaras.
At CGS-Iloilo, Commander Jan J. Terazona was designated as the new acting commander, replacing Commander Richard G. Gura.
In Capiz, Lieutenant Commander Gemlan F. Lanusga assumed command from Captain Cristanto A. Anas.
Meanwhile, Gura was reassigned as the new commander of CGS-Aklan, taking over from Lieutenant Commander Val Ernie P. Daitao.
In Guimaras, Lieutenant Junior Grade Benedict Angelo G. Gloriani replaced Lanusga as station commander.
All outgoing commanders were honored with the Coast Guard Merit Medal and Ribbon in recognition of what CGDWV described as their exemplary leadership and service during their respective tenures.
“Their remarkable leadership, unwavering dedication to duty and steadfast commitment played a pivotal role in guiding their teams, ensuring operational efficiency and fostering a culture of excellence. These qualities not only ensured the successful execution of their respective station’s missions but also enhanced the overall effectiveness, discipline and morale of their units, leaving a lasting impact on the Philippine Coast Guard’s operations,” CGDWV said in a statement.
The reshuffling comes as the Coast Guard continues to adjust its leadership structure to meet evolving maritime security, safety, and operational demands in Western Visayas./PN
