CAPIZ – A guard of a cockpit arena was shot dead in Poblacion Ilaya, Maayon, Capiz.
The victim was identified as Rey Lenciano, 32, while the suspect ws Ariel Derla Dieta, 25, of Barangay Ambilay, Panitan, Capiz.
Lenciano was rushed to the nearest hospital but died while being treated.
The victim fell asleep sitting around 5 a.m. on May 13 when the suspect shot him in the stomach, investigation of the Maayon Municipal Police Station (MPS) showed.
The suspect also had an existing homicide case, according to the Maayon MPS.
Ambilay Punong Barangay Juan Bolite, in an interview over DYFM Bombo Radyo Iloilo, confirmed that Dieta was a resident of their barangay but could no longer be found after the incident.
Allegedly prior to the killing, the victim mauled Dieta.
Authorities set up a P30,000 reward for those who can provide information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest./PN
