MANILA – Columbian Dyip is optimistic that they can finally barge to the playoffs round in the ongoing 2019 Honda PBA Philippine Cup with its middle placing in the standings with two games to go in the eliminations.

Dyip star guard Rashawn McCarthy said that he believes that they have a bright chance of making it to the quarterfinals round after improving to 4-5 win-loss slate with its 85-82 win over Rain or Shine Elasto Painters last Wednesday.

“It really feels good that we were able to bounce back (against the Painters),” said McCarthy. “We thought we had a chance against Blackwater (Elite last week) but we let it slip away.”

The Filipino-American three-point gunner added: “We’re in a pretty good position with two games left. I think if we get one out of the two, we should be in, but hopefully we could win both.”

But targeting a sweep in its last two matches will be easier said than done as they tangle with powerhouse teams in Magnolia Hotshots (March 13) and TNT KaTropa (March 22).

“We need everyone to step up in our last two games if we intend to advance to the next round,” said McCarthy, who has finally been unleased in Dyip after being sparingly used at San Miguel Beermen.

The Dyip has only entered the quarterfinals round once in its franchise’s history and their performance this conference was a huge improvement after placing last in the same conference last year./PN
