Comelec-Bacolod urges public to register early for upcoming elections

BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City is urging all eligible Filipinos to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration, reminding the public that early registration is key to avoiding long lines as deadlines approach.

City Comelec election officer Atty. Kathrina Trinio-Caña emphasized that registering now ensures a smoother and faster experience for both new voters and those updating their records.

Voter registration traditionally sees a surge of applicants during the final days before the deadline, resulting in overcrowded offices, extended waiting times, and rushed processing. To prevent this, citizens are strongly encouraged to visit the Comelec office at the Bays Center along San Juan Street or attend satellite registration sites as soon as possible. Early registrants typically complete the process within minutes.

Atty. Trinio-Caña also reminded the public that registration is open to those aged 15 and above for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections and 18 and above for regular elections. Registration services include new registration, transfer of records, correction of entries, change of civil status, reactivation, transfer from post to local, and updating of records for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“Comelec continues to roll out information campaigns, mall registration sites, and satellite registration activities nationwide to make the process more accessible. The public is encouraged to bring valid IDs and complete forms ahead of time to help speed up the process,” the poll body said.

Early registration means shorter lines, faster processing, and guaranteed readiness for the next elections. Comelec’s message is clear: don’t wait until the last minute—register now and make your vote count.

From November 17 to 21, the Voter Satellite Registration and Register Anywhere Program (RAP) will be held at the Main Atrium of Robinsons Place Bacolod. Applicants are advised to arrive early and bring all required documents and valid IDs for faster processing.

Atty. Trinio-Caña also noted that registration at the Comelec Bays Center will be temporarily suspended during the satellite registration period./PN
