Comelec-Iloilo Province processes nearly 9,000 voter applications in just a month

ILOILO — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) – Iloilo Province has processed 8,796 voter applications barely a month after the nationwide resumption of voter registration on Oct. 20, 2025, signaling strong public preparation for the Nov. 2, 2026 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and Barangay Elections.

The processed applications include new registrations, transfers within the city and from other localities, reactivation of records, correction of entries, change of civil status, and updating of records for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and members of vulnerable sectors.

Under Comelec Resolution No. 1117, voter registration is scheduled from October 20, 2025 to May 18, 2026.

Comelec offices province-wide are open to accept applications Mondays to Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including holidays, except on Dec. 24, 25, 30, and 31, 2025, Jan. 1, 2026, and during the Holy Week break on April 2 to 4.

Comelec encouraged all eligible residents to register early and avoid last-minute crowding.

It also issued reminders to ensure smooth and complete application processing:

* Regular voters (18 years old and above) – Bring a government-issued ID and photocopy.

* 15–17-year-old Katipunan ng Kabataan voters – Bring a photocopy of your certificate of live birth and a government-issued or school ID.

* Correction of entries – Present a photocopy of your certificate of live birth.

* Change of civil status – Submit a photocopy of your marriage certificate, court order, certificate of finality, or CENOMAR, whichever applies.
