BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city discouraged the supporters from wearing shirts bearing the faces or names of political candidates during the filing of the certificates of candidacy (COC).
COC filing began yesterday until October 8.
“Indi man violation, but we want to avoid nga may ara pa bala reklamo, madugang pa na sa obra namon,” acting City Election Officer Revo Sorbito said yesterday, October 1.
Sorbito added that their presence during the COC filing would be enough to show their support.
The Comelec said political bets are allowed to have companions during the filing of the COC depending on the venue.
But for Comelec-Bacolod, Sorbito said they are limiting the number of people allowed at the venue and will enforce strict crowd control measures to maintain peace and order during the process.
This year’s COC filing is taking place at the Liga ng Barangay Social Hall along San Juan Street in Barangay 12.
Meanwhile, Sorbito assured the candidates that they are ready to assess them regarding the process of the COC filing.
Comelec-Bacolod is accepting COCs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily during the filing period./PN
