PBBM, VP Sara’s trust and approval ratings decline

MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio saw their trust and approval ratings decline in the third quarter of 2024.

According to survey firm Pulse Asia, Marcos’ approval and trust scores went down from 53 percent in June to 50 percent based on the poll conducted from September 6 to 13, 2024.

The Chief Executive’s satisfaction rating in September is three points lower than June’s figure of 53 percent, while 29 percent of the respondents were undecided and 21 percent were dissatisfied.

The President’s trust score in September also slightly dropped 2 points from the 52 percent recorded in June, while 22 percent of the respondents had little or no trust for the President, while 28 percent were undecided.

Among geographical areas, the President got the highest satisfaction rating in Balance Luzon at 61 percent, followed by Metro Manila and Visayas both at 52 percent, and 26 in Mindanao.

President Marcos’ trust rating was highest in Balance Luzon at 64 percent, while the lowest was recorded in Mindanao at 21 percent, while his approval and trust ratings were highest among the Class D income bracket both at 52 percent.

Duterte-Carpio’s approval rating, on the other hand, went down by nine percentage points from 69 percent in the second quarter last June to 60 percent in September.

The Vice President’s trust rating dipped by 10 percentage points, from 71 percent in June to 61 percent in September.

Senate President Francis Escudero had an approval rating of 60 percent and a trust rating of 56 percent, while House of Representatives Speaker Martin Romualdez received a 32 percent approval score and a 31 percent trust score among respondents.

The September 2024 Ulat ng Bayan national survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 2,400 respondents nationwide. The survey has a ±2% error margin at the 95% confidence level./PN
