Comelec’s Register Anywhere Program ends

BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city has stopped accepting applications for Register Anywhere Program (RAP).

RAP commenced on February 12 and ended on August 31.

All RAP sites in private establishments and government offices across the country accepted applications of deactivated voters due to failure to vote in the previous two elections; transfer of overseas voters back to the Philippines (post to local); of residents of the city/district where the RAP sites are located; and of senior citizens and persons with disability who are new registrants or will update their records.

Comelec-Bacolod City election officer Revo Sorbito said a total of 205 individuals have taken advantage of the RAP in this city.

Meanwhile, the deadline for nationwide voter registration is on September 30.

The Comelec said those who are eligible to register as voters must be 18 years and above, residing in the Philippines for at least one year, and residing in the area where he/she is looking to get registered for at least six months prior to election day.

In this city, effective yesterday until September 13, the Comelec is only accepting voter’s registration application at SM City-Bacolod, according to Sorbito.

He added that on September 14, Comelec-Bacolod City will hold a one-day satellite voter’s registration at the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod. This is exclusive for students, faculty and staff of the university.

From September 15 to September 30, Sorbito said voter’s registration will be at Robinsons Place, adding they will no longer accept applications in their office at the BAYS Center.

“The reason is crowd control and for the convenience of the applicants,” the city election officer said./PN
