BACOLOD City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started the construction of the P10 million worth of building intended for the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc. (BYFI), the organizer of the MassKara Festival.

BYFI is currently renting an office in a building along San Sebatian Street, Barangay 8 in this city.

Mae Cuaycong, special assistant to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, said the project was donated by Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr. and the budget allocation was coursed through the DPWH as the implementing agency.

The structure stands in a two-hectare lot property owned by the city government.

The concept design of the BYFI reflects the festivity of the MassKara, according to Cuaycong.

Cuaycong however said that the P10-million allocation is not enough for the completion of the said project. It is only intended for the first phase – the construction of the ground floor.

The senator meanwhile said he will propose an additional amount of P15 million for the completion of the building./PN
