BACOLOD City — A 38-year-old construction worker was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Victorias City, Negros Occidental on July 9 after police seized suspected shabu worth P136,000 and an improvised firearm from his possession.
The Victorias Component City Police Station (CCPS), through its Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET), identified the suspect only by his alias “Wally,” a resident of Salome Street, Canetown Subdivision, Barangay 19-A, Victorias City.
Police said the operation was carried out at about 10:05 p.m. along Salome Street after the suspect allegedly sold a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to an undercover police officer in exchange for marked money.
Authorities recovered nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, including the buy-bust item, with a total estimated weight of 20 grams and a standard drug price of P136,000.
Also confiscated were the P500 marked buy-bust money, a black belt bag, a brown coin purse, a disposable lighter, P25 in cash, five rounds of .45-caliber ammunition, and an improvised .45-caliber pistol.
Police said the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine in a language he understood before being taken into custody.
The inventory of the seized items was conducted in accordance with Section 21 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in the presence of the required witnesses.
The confiscated suspected illegal drugs were turned over to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.
