ILOILO City â A construction worker died during a stabbing and shooting incident in Jaro district yesterday.
Albert Ledesma, 35, of San Isidro Village, Gran Plains Subdivision, Barangay MV Hechanova, sustained stab wounds on the chest, nape and back.
While playing the card game pusoy, a misunderstanding that led to grappling ensued between him and 33-year-old neighbor Jonel Subebe at around 1:15 a.m., police said.
Ledesma told Subebe that he no longer wanted to play but the latter got irked.
Subebe then stabbed Ledesma, prompting the latterâs cousin Mike Miguel â a 24-year-old from Barangay Buhang, Jaro â to draw out a gun of unidentified caliber and fire at Subebe, investigation showed.
Subebe sustained gunshot wounds on the right chest and left arm.
He and Ledesma were taken to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district but the attending physician pronounced Ledesma âdead on arrival.â
Mike Miguel Ledesma, also known as âLuk-ad,â fled to an unknown direction.
The Jaro police were still hunting him down as of this writing./PN
