ILOILO — A province-wide law enforcement sweep has led to the arrest of six wanted individuals in just two days, marking one of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) most coordinated crackdowns this year.
From November 10 to 11, police teams from multiple municipal stations fanned out across their jurisdictions, serving arrest warrants for offenses ranging from frustrated murder to estafa and violations of special laws.
In Barotac Viejo, two suspects — alias “Andro”, 44, and alias “Jojo”, 30 — were separately arrested in Barangay Natividad for violations of the Philippine Fisheries Code (Republic Act 8550). The warrants were issued by the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of the 6th Judicial Region.
Police in Santa Barbara apprehended alias “Kram”, 21, in Barangay Zone 2 on November 10 for frustrated murder, under a warrant issued by Branch 187 of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in the National Capital Region.
In Cabatuan, authorities arrested alias “Marc”, 20, in Barangay Camambugan for acts of lasciviousness, based on a warrant issued by the 12th MCTC of Cabatuan-Maasin.
San Dionisio police apprehended alias “Franc”, 37, in Barangay Poblacion for violating Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act. The warrant was issued by RTC Branch 66 of the 6th Judicial Region.
Meanwhile, Estancia police arrested alias “Lia”, 34, also in Barangay Poblacion, for estafa, pursuant to a warrant issued by the Municipal Trial Court of the 6th Judicial Region.
All six suspects are now detained in their respective police stations, with bail amounts recommended for temporary release depending on the gravity of the charges.
IPPO director Police Colonel Bayani Razalan said the series of arrests forms part of the provincial police’s continuing drive to hunt down fugitives and maintain public safety across Iloilo./PN
