ILOILO City – Six more Western Visayan police officers were infected with coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), pushing the current total to 40.
The new cases comprised four policemen and two female personnel aged 27 to 39, according to Lieutenant Joem Malong, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) spokesperson.
The first three cases involved a policeman assigned at the regional headquarters and a resident of Roxas City, Capiz; a policewoman from Iloilo City and assigned at the PRO-6’s Regional Community Affairs Development Division; and another policewoman assigned at the office of the regional police director. They were found to be COVID carriers on Aug. 28.
On Aug. 30, PRO-6 reported three additional cases – a policeman from Iloilo City and assigned at the Regional Personnel and Human and Accounting Unit but detailed to Iloilo City Police Office and two patrolmen who were part of the augmentation force sent to Cebu City two months ago.
Malong said all of these police personnel were asymptomatic and under facility quarantine.
