COVID beds in Bacolod hospital hit max capacity

BACOLOD City – Beds dedicated to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases at the Emergency Department of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here reached maximum capacity on Saturday.

In an advisory, the hospital said the slow turnover of Emergency Department isolation beds was due to the processing of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) swabs at their Molecular Laboratory.

The hospital also noticed an increasing number of walk-in patients.

While it strives to ensure that the operations at the emergency room are managed as efficiently as possible, it said it “strongly” recommends other hospitals for patient evaluation and management.

For patient transfer from local government units and other referring hospitals, the CLMMRH also strongly advises to first call the COVID-19 hotlines of their Operations Center to ensure ahead of time the availability of beds. This will avoid patient traffic at the Emergency Room, it explained./PN
