ILOILO City – Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infected at least 90 employees of the city government.
On the first day of mass testing on May 24, 11 employees tested positive for COVID-19, data from the City Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed.
On the second day (May 25), an additional 37 employees were found infected, and on the third day (May 26), 16 more employees tested positive for COVID-19.
Prior to the mass testing, 26 employees already tested positive for the viral disease. This prompted Mayor Jerry Treñas to close the city hall for a week.
Meanwhile, as of May 26, the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests of 897 city hall employees yielded negative results.
Massive decontamination and mass testing in the city hall are still ongoing.
