ILOILO City – The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) may no longer be allowed to received donations either in cash or in kind.
According to City Administrator Hernando Galvez, this may be one of the actions the city government will take after the investigation on the alleged pilfering of rice stocks at the CSWDO is over.
At present, CSWDO receives all kinds of donations primarily intended as relief goods during emergencies or calamities.
Galvez the ad hoc committee investigating the alleged rice pilfering at the CSWDO is expected to come up with recommendations for a stricter process in receiving donations.
“This is to ensure proper accountability,” said Galvez.
Monetary donations may be coursed through the City Treasurer’s Office and a receipt would be issued to the donors, said Galvez.
If the donations are in kind, the General Services Office may be tasked to receive them, he added.
“I assure the public that the committee report will be based sa nangin resulta sang fact-finding investigation,” said Galvez.
Aside from the alleged pilfering of rice stocks, the city government is also investigating the break-in at the CSWDO early this month. A separate ad hoc committee is doing the probe./PN
