DETROIT Pistons closed out a tight finish to post a 114-110 victory over Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season on Sunday night (Monday in the Philippines) in Cleveland, Ohio.
Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 27 points, while reserve Daniss Jenkins provided a strong scoring boost with 25 as they secured the win even with the absence of starters Tobias Harris and Jalen Duren due to injuries.
The Cavaliers mounted a late rally behind Donovan Mitchell, who finished with 30 points, most of them coming after halftime. They managed cut the deficit to two points in the final two minutes
Detroit, however, answered with timely plays, including a tip-in by Ausar Thompson in the closing seconds before Jenkins iced the game at the free-throw line in the final seconds.
Detroit was flawless from the stripe, converting all 21 of its free throws, with Cunningham accounting for 11 of those attempts. The Pistons built their advantage earlier in the game by erupting for 47 points in the second quarter, taking a 66-56 lead into the break.
Cleveland also got 16 points from Darius Garland, who struggled from long range, and 15 apiece from Evan Mobley and Sam Merrill. The loss snapped the Cavaliers’ three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Michael Porter Jr. unloaded a double-double performance against his former team as Brooklyn Nets cruised to a 127-115 victory over the shorthanded Denver Nuggets.
Porter led the Nets with a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds, Noah Clowney added 22 markers, DayRon Sharpe and Cam Thomas tallied 17 apiece, and Egor Demin and Ziarie Williams contributed 13 each.
Jamal Murray paced the Nuggets with 27 points and 16 assists, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 26 markers, while Peyton Watson and Aaron Gordon ended with 23 and 20 points, respectively.
In other results, Devin Booker converted a triple from near midcourt as Phoenix Suns stunned Oklahoma City Thunder, 108-105, while Orlando Magic prevailed over Indiana Pacers, 135-127./PN
