BACOLOD City — The Department of Agrarian Reform – Negros Island Region (DAR–NIR) has formally launched its “Padyak to Work” initiative, encouraging employees to adopt biking and other non-motorized modes of transportation in their daily commute.
The program is part of the agency’s response to the call of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to promote energy conservation across government offices.
Under the initiative, DAR–NIR officials and personnel are urged to use bicycles or any form of non-motorized transport when traveling to and from work. The agency said the program aims not only to reduce fuel consumption but also to promote the overall health and wellness of its employees.
“Beyond saving on fuel costs, this initiative helps improve the physical well-being of our personnel,” the agency said.
Prior to the launch of the program, DAR–NIR had already implemented a four-day workweek starting in March as part of its broader energy-saving measures.
