“I’m free as a bird!”
These were the words of a happy Daryl Ong as he shared why he is now more open to talking about his girlfriend for three years, Dea Formilleza.
Revealing that his marriage with his ex-wife Hazel Velasco is now finally annulled, the former “The Voice of the Philippines” contestant explained what kept him from going public with his current girlfriend.
“Annulled,” he said, confirming the annulment of his marriage with his ex-wife during an interview with the press at the media conference for his upcoming concert with Bugoy Drilon dubbed BND.
He then went on: “Tapos na ‘yung kaso ko. Dati kasi kasal ako eh. So hindi ako puwede magsabi na may girlfriend ako. Siyempre kawawa ‘yung girlfriend ko. Masaya naman siya nung panahon na ‘yun. So ngayon, I’m free as a bird. My bird is free.”
Daryl also revealed that he is constantly communicating with his son Dwayne who is currently residing in the United States.
“Okay naman. 11 years old na siya. Nasa States. Nasa Long Beach. Dun siya. Nakaka-chat ko naman siya palagi,” he said.
When asked about settling down, Daryl said he isn’t ready at the moment. His current priority is to become financially stable first.
“Ipon muna. Kasi ‘yung mom ko rin ‘yung medical condition niya. Dina-dialysis ‘yung mom ko eh. Three times a week,” he said, explaining that he is helping out his mom with her medical expenses. “So mas gusto maging financially stable muna to help sa family,” he added.
The 32-year-old singer, who seems to be in a happy relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Dea Formilleza, just wants to enjoy whatever the two of them have right now.
“‘Yung settling down, tingnan natin kung ano mangyayari sa mga susunod na kabanata,” he said.
Meanwhile, Daryl Ong’s BND (Best of the Nineties Decade) concert with Bugoy Drilon is happening on Sept. 14 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre in Resorts World Manila. Guests at the show include Katrina Velarde and Michael Pangilinan. (Push)
