ILOILO – The lifeless body discovered floating in the river at the boundary of Lemery, Iloilo and Dumarao, Capiz was positively identified by authorities on Friday, March 15.
The man was identified as “Junior” Asturias, of Barangay Tina, Dumarao.
According to his relatives, he had gone out with his father last Tuesday morning to set fish traps using empty plastic bottles, but his family grew concerned when he failed to return for several days.
At around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15, two Aetas stumbled upon Asturias’ lifeless body while they were out hunting.
They noticed what appeared to be a human body floating in the water and immediately alerted the nearby villagers. Upon confirmation, authorities from the Lemery Municipal Police Station were promptly notified and swiftly responded to the scene.
Upon closer examination by the group, the victim was identified as a resident of Barangay Tina and was subsequently turned over to the custody of the Dumarao Police Station./PN
