ILOILO City – Even though “Kasadyahan sa Kanbanwahanan”, one of the highlights of the 2024 Dinagyang Festival, has just ended, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. teased everyone to expect a bigger one next year.
Defensor made the statement during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony at the Iloilo provincial capitol grounds, as he thanked all the members of the Kasadyahan sa Kabawahanan committees, department heads, and all the stakeholders for the successful staging of the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan on Saturday, Jan. 27.
“To say that the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan was a resounding success is not enough. It is the best Kasadyahan in history,” Defensor quipped.
He said the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan contributed to a more fun and exciting Dinagyang Festival this year.
Defensor noted that other municipalities have already signified their interest in joining next year. He has also been receiving good feedback about the Kasadyahan and the provincial capitol’s Dinagyang lights.
“Sulit gid and inyo pinangabudlayan,” he said, referring to the Kasadyahan committee members up to the light installers and the utility and security personnel.
“For now, let us enjoy the success of the Kasadyahan, be proud of yourselves, and be proud of the provincial government,” Defensor said.
Tribu Tultugan of the municipality of Maasin, managed by Mayor Francis Amboy, was declared grand champion in the 2024 Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan.
The winning group received a cash prize of P500,000, a trophy, and P15,000 gift certificate from Mang Inasal.
Also, USWAG Ilonggo Party-list’s Rep. James “Jojo” Ang gave P10 million worth of projects.
Additionally, the Tultugan Festival received the Best in Discipline, Best in Music, Best in Choreography, and Best in Performance award.
Tultugan Festival defeated the defending champion, Tribu Jalaud – Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay Festival of Calinog, who clinched the first runner up for this year’s Kasadyahan.
The Tribu Jalaud – Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay Festival received P300,000 and trophy, plus P10,000 gift certificate from Mang Inasal.
Kaing Festival of Leon placed second runner up and received a cash prize of P200,000 and trophy, plus P5,000 gift certificate.
This year’s competing tribes for Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan are the following: Katagman Festival of Oton, Saad Festival of Leganes, Pantat Festival of Zarraga, Cry of Jelicuon Festival of New Lucena, Kaing Festival of Leon, Tultugan Festival of Maasin, Jalaud, Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay Festival of Calinog, Banaag Festival of Anilao, and Kasag Festival of Banate./PN
