ILOILO City – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 6 recognized its partners during the culminating activity of the Environment Month 2018.

The event was held at the DENR Region 6 office in this city.

Media partners, peoples’ organizations (POs), nongovernment organizations (NGOs), and academic institutions that became instrumental in advocating the agency’s programs were acknowledged during yesterday’s activity.

“Our environmental partners, especially members of the media, have played a pivotal role in our adherence to transparency and good governance,” said DENR Region 6 director Jim O Sampulna. “Recognizing their efforts in advocating our environmental programs and projects through print or broadcast medium, is but fitting and they rightly deserve it.”

Sampulna also recognized the agency’s personnel, saying, “We are equally grateful to our men and women in the field and members of the POs and NGOs who all worked profusely to make our projects, such as the National Greening Program and the Community-Based Forest Management Program, a resounding success.”

Public servants among the ranks of the DENR Region 6 who had rendered 15 up to 40 years of public service were also given citation during the event.

The Department’s Program on Rewards and Incentives for Service Excellence Committee chose those who were worthy of commendation.

DENR is now on its 31st year of existence. It was reorganized on June 10, 1987 by virtue of Executive Order 23. (With DENR Region 6/PN)
